We had a wonderful Christmas. All day Lincoln kept saying "Merry Christmas for one and all!"

Christmas Singing

Lincoln has really gotten into singing Christmas songs this year. His favorite is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Today at church we sang it as part of sacrament meeting. When it came to the part that says "peace on earth and mercy mild," Lincoln sang "God and sinners gangnam style."
Gangnam style is a silly popular song on the radio that is accompanied by an even sillier dance move. I laughed so hard I would barely finish singing the song. What a kid!

Out of the Mouth of Babes

Tonight after reading scriptures Lincoln began talking about the crucifixion of Jesus. Lincoln asked some questions about the crucifixion that David and I did our best to answer. After the questions Lincoln proceeded to tell us that when he was in heaven and Jesus was crucified he felt sad and he cried in heaven. He said that was "not his favorite part."
I love those sweet moments when Lincoln speaks with a pure heart about what is on his mind an how he feels about things. I also feel privileged to get occasional glimpses into the pure understanding of eternal things through the thoughts of my sweet boy. I am so blessed!

We Love You, Grandma Edwards!

My sweet Grandma Edwards passed away earlier this month.  She was a beautiful lady and I will miss her very much.  Lincoln grew quite fond of her during the time that we were able to spend together.  Her last several months on earth were very difficult for her.  We know that she is out of pain now and that she has been able to reunite with loved ones she has missed for many years, including her sweet husband, Lee.  We are grateful for the impact that she has had on our lives.

One memory I have of Grandma goes way back to when I was about 4 years old.  When we were living in Kearns, UT she would occasionally come and visit us.  Every time she came I would get so excited!  At night I was so excited that she was there that I could not sleep.  In the night I would creep out of my room to where grandma would be sleeping.  I crawled into bed with her.  I just wanted to be close to her.  We would snuggle all night and I loved every minute of it.

I will miss her very much and I look forward to the day that I can see her and other loved ones again.  Love you, Grandma!

 

JANET EDWARDS Janet Austin Edwards lost her courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. Janet was born March 1, 1934, to Kenneth S. and Irene Ward Austin in Tremonton, Utah. Her early childhood was spent in Salt Lake City, Wenatchee, Wash., Great Falls, Mont., Butte, Mont., and Livingston, Mont. When she was 15, her family moved to Las Vegas. She attended and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1952. During that time, she met the love of her life, Lee Edwards. They were married in the St. George Temple, Sept. 11, 1953. In 1955, Lee began his commission as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. During that time they lived in Kansas, Texas, and California. Upon finishing his commission, they returned to Las Vegas for a short time before moving to Salt Lake City, while Lee attended pharmacy school. In 1964, they returned to Las Vegas, where they raised their family. Lee passed away June 16, 1985. Janet remained in Las Vegas until 1997, when she moved to Parowan, Utah. Janet loved being a mother not only to her own children, but the many pre-school children she taught at Seton Academy in Las Vegas. Following the death of her beloved Lee, she went to work at the Las Vegas Valley Water District, where she remained until she retired in the spring of 1997. Janet was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions, including relief society counselor, primary teacher, young women's camp director, and most recently the funeral chairperson in the Parowan 3rd Ward. She loved and served in this position for 15 years (only being released when she was too ill to do the job) providing luncheons and compassionate service to countless families. Spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. Upon moving to Parowan, she had the opportunity to follow several of them as they participated in various activities. She was also a beautiful seamstress and developed a love for quilting. She was a member of the Beaver Quilt Guild and enjoyed spending time and sharing her talents with other members of the group. Janet is survived by children, Kim (Scott) Doubek of Parowan, Gary (Moana) Edwards of Centerville, Utah, Leslie (Scott) Cecil of Parowan, and Todd (Julee) Edwards of Las Vegas; as well as siblings, Joyce Bryan, Jeanne Beebe and Jeff Austin; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Lee Edwards; and her parents, Kenneth S. Austin and Irene Ward Austin preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Parowan 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 90 South Main St. in Parowan. Friends may call Friday, Nov. 9, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 10, from 11:30-12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
