Calling on a Higher Power

I was just commenting the other day how there really isn't a toy out there this year that Lincoln has expressed that he can't live without for Christmas. Well, all of that changed the other day.

My mom and dad came down for he week. Mom and I went shopping one day so she could start on her Christmas gifts. While shopping, she picked up a Harry Potter Lego set for my nephew, Adam. She brought the set home and took it into her room without much thought of the placement of the box.

Later that day, Lincoln excitedly grabbed my hand and told me he had a surprise to show me. I let him lead me to where he had discovered the Lego box in the guest bedroom. He was so excited to see the giant castle on the picture and all the characters. He knows who they are because he has studied a picture of the Harry Potter Lego sets in his Lego magazine.

He asked if we could open the box. I had to break the news to him that the Legos weren't for him. They were for Adam for Christmas from grandma. Lincoln's eyes welled up with big tears and he tried to hold his quivering lip still as he said, "but I want to play with Harry Potter Legos."

I broke his poor little heart. He was truly hurt! I tried to explain to him that the set is for kids between the ages of 7-14 like it said on the box. He said, "but I am 4." and pointed to the 4 in 14. With his heart broken he realized that the toy was indeed not intended for him and sadly left the room with puffy eyes and his head hanging down.

Later that night as we knelt to pray, Lincoln asked Heavenly Father to help him be really good so that Santa would bring him Harry Potter Legos for Christmas.
I loved that prayer so much. That Lego set was obviously important to him. Kids have the sweetest and most sincere prayers.

Don't worry Lincoln. I know Heavenly Father heard your sweet prayer, and I know Santa did too.

Halloween

We had a very fun Halloween this year.  We started the day by going to the elementary school and the library for some costume parades.  Lincoln really enjoyed being Optimus Prime in the costume parade at the library.

When we got home, I made Lincoln some special Halloween pumpkin pancakes.  They were orange and we decorated them to look like jack-o-lanterns.

For dinner we made mummies, frog eyes, and witch fingers.  YUM!

Lincoln was such a great Optimus Prime.  He loved his costume. 
When it was time to go trick-or-treating, we picked up Thatcher and Bridger to go with us. 

We had a great time going to all the houses and we got lots of candy!  Lincoln was really polite at each house.  He made sure to tell the home owners "Thank You" and "Happy Halloween!"

The next day was Lincoln's preschool Halloween party.  He was really excited to wear his costume to school.

He said that at the party they played games and ate snacks.  He is so lucky that he was able to have 2 days of Halloween!

Soccer Time

 Lincoln played soccer for the first time this fall.  He was on a cute little team of boys who were so fun to watch.  Often, Lincoln would find more interest in watching his shadow run or blowing dandelions than in the actual soccer game.  The more games they played however, the more Lincoln was able to catch on to the concept. 

 Lincoln is the one in green wearing the black socks and black shorts.

 Tylia Jackman was such a great coach for these little guys.  In fact, when we came to the second game, Lincoln started to worry because he could not see the "girl on my team."  I told him that there are no girls on his team...only boys.  He insisted that there was a girl on his team.  I thought ant thought and realized that he was talking about Tylia.  During the games Lincoln would walk and run around the field holding Tylia's hand.  During the breaks, Lincoln always walked by Tylia and hugged her leg.  Soccer was a really good experience.  Lincoln says he wants to play again in the spring.

 Lincoln was given a little medal after the last game.  That's pretty cool!

What a handsome little soccer dude!

 Not long ago we went to a little carnival for David's work.  They had face paining there.  Lincoln had never had his face painted so he was curious what it was all about.  Well, at the carnival he decided that he wanted a spider web painted on his face.  He loved his spider web and he didn't want it to wash off.  Unfortunately, the web came off in the tub. 

The next day, Lincoln told me that he wanted his face painted again.  We were at home so I told him that maybe next time we go to a carnival again, he can have his face painted.  I went downstairs to do some work and I could hear some shuffling and rustling upstairs.  I decided I better check out what was going on.  Lincoln had got into his water colors and decided to paint his own face!  Doesn't he look great?

Staheli Farm and Pumpkin Patch

 At the beginning of October, we took Lincoln to Staheli Farm to play and pick a pumpkin.  That is such a fun place to go in the early Fall.  We love their playground made from tires, pipes, etc.  Lincoln loves to play in the huge bed of corn.

 These tire swings are really fun too.  They go around and around.

 Lincoln was really looking forward to going on the hay ride to pick a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.

 There were so many pumpkins to choose from.

 We finally picked the perfect pumpkin and headed back to the farm to enjoy some more fun activities.

 They have this huge thing called a jumping pillow.  It's way fun!  Lincoln definitely wore himself out jumping on it.

We had a great time at the farm.  We will have to go again next year.

 A while ago we had a crazy storm come through our little town.  It started out as a pretty good rain.  I love driving in the rain, so I convinced David to take Lincoln and me on a little ride in the car.  He agreed.  We were driving down state street in La Verkin.  Suddenly, by the elementary school the rain started coming down so hard that we could not see anything at all except for water rushing down the gutters and the road.  I was a tiny bit afraid that we would be swept away in David's little car.  Soon after that, the rain was hitting our car so hard that we couldn't hear anything either.  The sound was so loud!  David quickly pulled into a small gas station so that we could have shelter under the gas pump covers. 

Before we knew it, rain was no longer falling from the sky.  It was hail!  The hail was coming down so hard and fast that it was bouncing all over the sidewalks and roads.  We stayed under the cover for about 5 minutes before things cleared up so we could safely drive back home. 

When we got home, we found a big pile of hail right next to our garage doors.  Lincoln thought it was so cool.  He was having a great time.  My heart was still beating a little faster than normal.  I admit, I was a little freaked out.

Sleep Tight

Lincoln loves to sleep with big blankets shoved up his shirt.  He takes his blanket and stuffs it up his shirt as far and as tight as it can go after David and I leave the room for the night.  We think it's so funny that we had to take a picture.  He actually sleeps really well even with this huge bulge.
