"aDAY pweese?"

Lincoln has a new hero. I wish I could say his hero was David or me. One of his grandparents or aunts or uncles would be a nice choice for a hero as well. However, he has chosen perhaps one of the most unlikely heroes for a two year old boy to have. Lincoln chose this guy to be his hero.

"Who is this guy" you ask? Well, according to Wikipedia (Michael Scott) he "is one of pop music's most enduring and successful singer-songwriters." He's NEIL DIAMOND! My sister-in-law, Kathi, also loves Neil and she is the person who exposed Lincoln to him first. While babysitting him one day, she turned on the ND for the kids to listen to and dance. When the song, America came on, the kids went ballistic and started dancing like mad. Every time the singers in the song would sing "TODAY" the kids punched the air with their fists and yelled right along with the backup singers.

I happen to have a copy of the song so I played it the other day over our speakers in our house. Lincoln immediately started grooving and when the singers sang "TODAY" Linc chimed right in by raising his hand and yelling "a-DAY!" It may have been a mistake to let Lincoln know that the song is part of our collection because since then, it is the only song that has played on our stereo. We were even lucky enough to record some of a Neil Diamond concert that aired on Friday night. Fortunately, he saved America for the last song so we were able to see it. Lincoln loves to watch it. He thinks ND is SO cool!

Today, the second we stepped into the house from church, Lincoln started tugging on my skirt saying over and over "a-DAY pweese?" "a-DAY pweese?" How could I resist?

For the time, I am indulging his Neil fascination. We'll see how long my nerves can last.

It could be a more annoying song that he's obsessed with, right? His dancing is amazing! I love watching his face light up when the base starts building up at the beginning. I hope you can catch video of this sometime!
